Blindsided by ObamaCare?

Fix-it bill? This so-called "fix-it" bill, released yesterday at the behest of the House, makes a bad Senate bill even worse: It adds more entitlement spending and Medicare cuts, further increases taxes on the middle class, and double-counts savings in a way that would make Bernie Madoff blush.

Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma put any House member on notice who switches from voting No last November to Yes on the final bill. They should be forewarned if they retire or are defeated at the polls in November and think they will then get an administration appointment that requires Senate confirmation (Rep. Bart Gordon, NASA Administrator?). He said he absolutely will put a hold on Senate confirmation of their nomination, assuming that the nomination was a pay-back for their vote for ObamaCare. And Dr. Coburn said that he and the staff of seven other senators will be scrubbing every future bill introduced to see if there is pork for any district as a payback for a yes vote.

Rep.Huebsch@legis.wisconsin.gov

In his 1961 Coffee Cup Speech, Ronald Reagan summed up the health care debate raging in Congress at the time this way:

“One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it. Now, the American people, if you put it to them about socialized medicine and gave them a chance to choose, would unhesitatingly vote against it. We had an example of this. Under the Truman administration it was proposed that we have a compulsory health insurance program for all people in the United States, and, of course, the American people unhesitatingly rejected this."

Fifty years later, a majority of Americans continue to reject socialized medicine, but President Obama and Congress aren’t listening.

Washington Chaos Portends Obama’s Vision For America

As the nationalized "Healthcare" debacle nears its end game, the people of America are increasingly shocked and disgusted by the raw ugliness of the Obama "governing" philosophy. Those platitudes of "hope and change" are gone, and in their place a thoroughly regretful American populace now witnesses, to its horror, the total desecration of this once triumphal constitutional republic.

More significantly however, such criminal usurpations of constitutional governance will not stop there. If this scheme is allowed to stand, its effects will ultimately redound disastrously to the rest of us. Every congressional district in the country could conceivably be choked and repressed over some insignificant precept with which the government ostensibly finds fault, with redress only being permitted if the affected Senators or Representatives from that state or district comply with the demands of the Administration.

How Obama Is Turning America against Israel

Obama’s vaunted equanimity and judgment are not on display when it comes to the Israelis. Hugo Chávez, Syria’s Basher Assad, the Chinese, and Iran’s Ahmadinejad constantly humiliate America, and the administration does not make a peep. Instead, Obama reserves his ire for an ally.

Clearly, the double standards that are at work cast doubt not only on Barack Obama’s competency, but also his judgment and equipoise. He ignores true insults to America, such as Syria’s invitation to Ahmadinejad and Hezbollah right after America announced that we were returning our Ambassador to Syria. His apathy towards Iranian acquisition of nuclear weapons is also notable.

Democrats in the Deathmobile

At this point, however, the arguments for passage resemble another Animal House scene, with Obama in the role of Otter when he announces, "I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part." It remains to be seen whether House Democrats will supply Bluto’s famous answer: "We’re just the guys to do it."

The Deem-o-crats’ Towering Deception

If you cannot trust government’s numbers, you cannot trust government’s words.

There’s an old saying that "figures don’t lie, but liars sure do figure." Every major Demcare statistic — from the inflated number of uninsured to the politicized junk-science statistic on the number of Americans who purportedly die from lack of health insurance to the mythical savings that will come from squandering "$940 billion" — is a single-payer-promoting figment of liberal imagination.

As Pelosi vowed last week, "Kick open that door, and there will be other legislation to follow. We’ll take the country in a new direction." Yep — straight to a red-ink-stained hell in a handbasket.

Mark Levin Readies Lawsuit on Slaughter Rule

Landmark has already prepared a lawsuit that will be filed in federal court the moment the House acts. Such a brazen violation of the core functions of Congress simply cannot be ignored. Article I, Section 7 of the Constitution is clear respecting the manner in which a bill becomes law. Members are required to vote on this bill, not claim they did when they didn’t. The Speaker of the House and her lieutenants are temporary custodians of congressional authority. They are not empowered to do permanent violence to our Constitution.

My Questions for the President

“Mr. President, you ran for president and won. Looking back on your life, what made you think you were qualified to be president?

“Finally, is there anything, on any subject, on which you do not know better than everyone else?”

My Healthcare Plan

It’s a one-page bill creating a free market in health insurance. Let’s all pause here for a moment so liberals can Google the term "free market."

We can’t have a free market in health insurance until Congress eliminates the antitrust exemption protecting health insurance companies from competition.

Talking Points vs. Realty

In a swindle that would make Bernie Madoff look like an amateur, Barack Obama has gotten a substantial segment of the population to believe that he can add millions of people to the government-insured rolls without increasing the already record-breaking federal deficit.

Fraud has been at the heart of this medical care takeover plan from day one.
